Three generations of Better Homes and Gardens Cook Book. The books from the 40's and 50's are at a local used book store. The book from the 90's is actually my book.
Is it bad that I have yet to own one cookbook? I guess in the technological age, there really isn't the need for one. When I was younger, I remember reading the cookbooks that belonged to my mom. Hmm, thanks for giving me something to think about.
Holy cow, that is awesome! I didn't know they went that far back. I totally want the 1940s one...how great would it be to have the more simple, natural recipes??
visiting via 'wordless wednesday blog hop' I too have this cook book - the more recent version - and I love it. My go to for salads. one of my fav is the taco salad.
I always think older cook books look more homely and appetising than the ones these days :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a cooktastic week :-)
I agree with Steve. The older ones use the more natural ingredients ;o)

ReplyDeleteThey haven't really changed on the outside all that much over the years.
ReplyDeleteI own the last one, for about 38 years now. (got it for a wedding present)

I have this cookbook and love it! It was handed down from my Gram.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting to see how they change . . . and how they don't change.
