Road Trip to Meskwaki Casino

This past Sunday and Monday (Labor Day), we traveled from Lincoln, Nebraska to Tama, Iowa to try to win some money gambling at Meskwaki Casino. We have been going to this casino for years. This trip it the first we went since the COVID.

Before leaving town we stopped for breakfast, I got a sunrise photo before officially starting out on our trip.

I also tried to take some cloud and windmill  pics from a moving car.

Iowa has some really cool rest stops. You could plan a vacation around visiting Iowa rest stops. Most have some useful information and history.

We finally arrive at our destination.

We get some lunch at a café inside the casino. We ordered Hawaiian pizza and a side of bread sticks.

Unfortunately, my husband I could not finish it

Even though the casino does have a hotel, we decided to go to a slightly cheaper hotel. The hotel we went to has themed suites. We got the rain forest themed suite. I have never been to a suite quite like this. In future trips we are going to have to check out the other themes.  For sure, spending time in the suite is the highlight of the trip.
Our bed.
There were two lounge chairs in front of the tv.

a hot tub..
This guy is at the foot of the bed...
a lighted mirror over the bed.

A spa shower, it took a while to figure out how to operate the shower.

There was a Mexican restaurant next to the hotel.

I took another sky pic from the restaurant.

Monday morning we went back to the casino. After a few hours it was clear we are not going to win, so we heading to the gift shop to redeem our points and headed home.

  2. You seem to have had a great time at the casino, so your loses are just part of the expense of being there. Enjoyed seeing your photos.

  4. "The 10 Best Iowa Rest Stops" - sounds like a great book title! How funny that you should stay in a themed hotel. Is this a new thing that I have just missed? We were looking at tourist information for Idaho Falls, and they have at least two hotels with theme suites! Thanks for sharing your road trip with everyone at Mosaic Monday!
